Life is an adventure

The beautiful colours that carpet the forest floor.

That is lived one moment at a time and you maybe asking yourself what does this have to do with anything.  Great question and the answer is reflected in the lack of blog posts over the past number of days.

One of our favourite activities is walking Toaster at sunset.

In the moments between the last post and today we have done many things.  We explored Victoria BC, spent wonderful evenings with our son and daughter-in-love, flew home, visited with our children, had a plumber come in and fix a leaking pipe, enjoyed the company of our youngest granddaughter three nights in a row, went walking with our oldest son here at home, delivered a gift from our son in Victoria to his sister here in Ontario and took personal time for pedicures and I had a manicure.

Everywhere we look there are signs of fall

And when I thought about writing a blog post or catching up on my 5 Minutes Of My Day the activity did not bring me joy so I turned to something that did.

Father and son engaged an evening game together
I think for the next few month while we spend time at home the blog will be posted when the activity of sitting at a computer brings me joy, until I organize my retired life and find that sweet spot where sharing through pictures does bring me joy.
Paul and I enjoyed the cultural variety of foods and we tasted many this Trip.
Fall is my favourite time of the year to walk , nature has clothed herself in abundant colours and she dances with the wind.
Found enough fabric to make the dress that Rylee needs.  Rylee learned how to carefully ripe out seams so that the fabric can be used,  A $4 find at Salvation Armyu

Thank you for dropping in to read this post and we hope you enjoy the images I have explained the pictures in the captions below.

Some vacations are all about public walkways

Even on days when clouds threaten rain there are beautiful places to walk Victoria and we are walking them.

From sidewalks crowded by flowers and hedges to pathways beside the ocean.

The first thing you learn when walking around Victoria is that you are either walking up or down hill level ground only occurs at the waters edge.

Mild weather means flowers abound

and everywhere you can forage for apples and wild berries.

On Saturday we took Toaster for a walk around Fort Macaulay.

We ended our day with the most delicious harvest meal ham, scalloped potatoes, roasted veg, apple crisp and homemade ice cream with new friends and family.

Thank you for spending this time with us.

Markets and Garage Sales

Saturday and today were amazing day of markets, crafting, and artists.

The steampunk chest was created by Ann Kerr of Edmonton Alberta.  She sells her art at Bountiful Farmers Market.

The Bountiful market is worth a stop, fruits and vegetables in season, wonderful lunch stops and beautiful crafts and art.

One of Ann Kerr’s Chest Dioramas.  If you get to Ann’s store turn her chest over and you will find a surprise.

Ann also creates beautiful Journals all in the Steampunk genre.

While Susan and I walked around the market, Ron and Paul painted parking lot lines at Holyrood Mennonite Church.

Paul brought home a picture of  Susan’s stained-glass artwork that hangs at the church, there are amazing artist in this family.

Saturday night I made a sushi supper by myself and my presentation was good if I do say so myself.  Now in the spirit of full disclosure I did add too much syrup and the larger pieces of sushi fell apart when you picked them up.

Today we went to Paper Arts Creation in Leduc to a Scrapbookers Garage Sale.  This Steampunk lazy susan is made with tin cans, and paper rolls.

I see one of these in my future.

Again, the men did not go with us and went instead to Telford Lake in Leduc where they saw Pelicans.

We return to Saskatchewan tomorrow morning after spending a wonderful week here in Edmonton.

Thank you for coming along today.

Riding the Funicular

What a wonderful day getting reacquainted with family and walking along the North Saskatchewan River Valley in Downtown Edmonton.

We travelled from street level to the river valley on the 100 Street Funicular a glass walled elevator that provides amazing views of the river and surrounding area.

We took a leisurely walk along the well groomed pathways stopping often to take pictures and just admire our surroundings.

Muttart Conservatory is closed this year and we had a beautiful view of the conservatory from the far side of the River.

Looking up from the river valley there were spectacular views of the city.

Our walk provided Paul and Susan lots of time to talk and catch-up on family news.

These clay tiles adorned the wall of Edmonton Library car park.

After lunch and ice cream we returned home to relax and catch up on my travel journal.

It is hard to stay focused surrounded by Susan’s amazing craft room!
So many new paper crafting tools and supplies and what happens when a card maker meets a junk journaler too much talking LOL.

Ron and Paul clean the van and BBQed supper.

Just a wonderful day and we appreciate that you took time out of your day to visit with us.

Visiting with Saskatchewan Pen Pals

Cool nights are harbingers of a restful night’s sleep and on August 6, 2019 we woke well rested and excited to visit with our young pen pals.

Our day started with a quick walk and a dip in the hot tub.

Then off to Regina we went to say a quick hello to our great niece and nephew, our little pen pals.   They were thrilled to show us their garden and plants that are growing from the seeds we sent them.

While the men went off looked at farm equipment and run errands Carla babysat her grandchildren so that Charlotte and I could get pedicures and in my case a manicure.

Prior to leaving I asked my great nephew what colour I should get on my nails he said pink sparkles and I now have pink sparkly nails, just a little out of my comfort range.

It was wonderful to spend time with my niece and catch-up on her life and what her children are doing.

Once back at their home I played and coloured with our niece and nephew.  They talked about the things that we sent them in the mail and what we will do at our weekend camping trip together.

I felt great joy when our great niece ran to her bedroom and came out with one of the storybooks we had sent her and asked her Grandma to read too her.

Our great nephew presented me with two homemade mazes that he created for me to solve and in true junk journal fashion re-purposed his happy mail in the creation of my new mazes.

We left after about an hour to have a fabulous dinner at the Teppanyaki Japanese Steak House.  This is a small unassuming store front the reveals an authentic Japanese restaurant and amazing food.

We have been to this restaurant on at least two previous occasion and each time has been as enjoyable as the last.

Thank you from coming along today.
