Myrtle Beach February 22, 2019 Bonaventure Cemetery Savannah GA

Today we drove to Savannah GA to meet up with family.  Today's images are all from the Bonaventure Cemetery a place we have wanted to visit since watching the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

If you ever get to Savannah it is an amazing place to walk through.

Myrtle Beach February 21, 2019 Warm enough to short sleeves

Walking the beach at low tide on a day
where the high is 72F.

Soon there will be on horses on the beach so we enjoyed
them today.

Where would spring be without dandelions
and these beauties are growing side our
Rpod.

The foam deposited on the sand is beautiful
when looked at from unique perspective.

I find the entrances leading onto the
beach points of interest as they speak of
adventures yet to come.

Walking a low tide in 72F weather was
a joyful experience.

We are noticing more signs of spring in
South Carolina as buds are swelling.

Myrtle Beach February 15, 2019 Walking the State Park Trails

Today we walked to the State Park Pier and ventured into the
trails where we found spring showing and colour bursting forth.

We headed out on our walk this morning at low tide.

The end of the Myrtle Beach State Park Pier is
now off limits to humans having been weakened
by the last hurricane.  No matter how calm the ocean
maybe there is always surf under the pier.

All that still remains of the  Springmaid Pier destroyed
in hurricane Matthew

We love walking among the live oaks as they twist and
arch over head.

We saw our first wild flowers today as we walk the trails
a
Atamasco Rain-lily.

The swamp are coming alive as green vegetation begins
to cover the surface of the water.

In the spring the life cycle of the majestic trees
fallen by storm is evident as we saw at least 7
different fungi growing.

You walk the trails on a carpet of dry leaves that create a
soft rushing sound, the white sound of the bush.

We took advantage of the many benches
to sit and listen to the birds and
other sounds of nature.

Myrtle Beach February 14, 2019 Meditating on the sky

Valentine Day breakfast in Murrells Inlet

The Dead Dog Salon has an amazing breakfast
with views of the inlet and the glorious sunshine.

Once back at the campground we spent 2 hours sitting on
the beach reading, crocheting and watching the dogs on
the beach.

They do have fun.

Size does not matter everyone has fun.

Our view to the State Park Pier

Pelican lazily floating.

35 years living a life driven by a purpose external to who I am - a job.

I am finding the circumstance of retirement surreal as I gazed into a soft blue sky feathered with white clouds that my new purpose will be the most important one of my life, my purpose is to see me and set the course of my actions for this the final stage of life - to end my life knowing I have lived it well.

I say this with out regret as I believe that this life is part of the continuum of existence that extends beyond human death.

The questions that consumed me today were not about I want to do in the next 20+ years left to me, they were about what in living this life I will leave for my grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren - the people who will come after me.

I think it is important that in this the last saga of my life that I work hard to ensure that the world around me knows joy, is less focused on things and that for the planet I leave it healthier through my existence.

I have no idea what any of this means and on this beautiful sunny day as I look up at the sky, first from my vantage point on the beach and then through the window of our trailer as we relax for an afternoon nap my goal is to know me and how I interact with the world around me.

And we ended our day with a 1/2 price banana split we
are really going to miss these when we get home.

Today is the half way mark for this wonder adventure we are on.

Myrtle Beach February 11, 2019 Warm and comfortable on a rainy day

We started to walk the beach and the incoming tide eventually
drove us to walk the campground.

High tide does not make for comfortable beach walking, too soon our hips and knees begin to ache so this morning we were only on the beach for a short time chased off by the incoming tide.

The sea was rough this morning matching the stormy sky.

This gave us a wonderful opportunity to walk through the park.  The birds and squirrels were very active and when the rain started we understood why.

Spring is starting to show in the grass where the weeds
have started to flower.

Once the rain started all activity stopped and the music started.  We had never noticed before that the birds sing during a light rain storm ~ the music was beautiful.

The squirrels must have known that the day would be rainy
on our walk they were everywhere eating and filling
their cheeks.
Once back at our campsite Paul and I settled into our picnic shelter where we spent the afternoon reading, knitting and listening to a book on tape.  Our faux fireplace took the damp off and created a very romantic semi outdoor space for us.

On our walk this morning before the rain we realized
that they have finished painting the pirate of
Pirateland.

All day there was a light rain,
our eaves-trough is working great!
