Great Grandma and Great John
Grandpa Snyder

Grandpa and Grandma Snyder have spent every March Break for the past 16 years at Pirateland this is their winter home away from home.

Brooklynn and Isabella's Myrtle Beach Adventure

Brooklynn and Isabella were ready to leave for Myrtle Beach on Tuesday of last week and they patiently waited Thursday to arrive the day they left.  Brooklyn and Isabella traveled by car while Emily and Ruth will take their first plane trip.

On Thursday night they left by car with Grandpa and Grandma and drove to Great Grandma's house where they spent the night.  Friday morning they were up and ready to leave at 4:00 am.  It was a long 11 hour car ride to the Quality Inn Wythville VA.  Where they spent a relaxing evening and they got to sleep in until 9:00 am Saturday morning.

On Saturday it was a only a five hour drive to Myrtle Beach.  Brooklynn and Isabella were glad to be out of the car and now they are waiting for Emily and Ruth to arrive on Sunday March 10, 2013.
To celebrate their arrival Grandma and Grandpa bought the girls new sandals

Isabella's are clear plastic

while Brooklynn's are purple and match her dress
It is hot and hard on the eyes waiting in the sun so the girls put on their sun glasses.

This is what it looked like the day they left Canada
and this is what the weather is like in Myrtle Beach

Did you notice the difference?
Yes that is right no snow!

Here are some pictures that the Brooklynn and Isabella have taken so far.

There is a salt water tidal pond on the walk to the beach and there are often different birds feeding off the fish and other marine life.

This bush and the red berries grow along the dunes.  The first year that Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Alex camped at Pirateland the previous fall it had been hit by a Hurricane and the beach and campground just flowed into each other.  Each year since there has been work done to restore the dunes and this is the result a healthy break protecting both humans and animals alike.
It was cold on Sunday and so everyone had on hoodies and mitts to keep warm.  Great John, Grandpa and Grandma all walked the breach to the Myrtle Beach State Park where we walked a nature walk to put in time.  The Camp Store does not open until 10:00 am and we needed hot drinks.

This is one of the picnic shelters that the State park has to offer it would be fun to have a picnic there!

This dove found it too cold to fly and so was keeping warm is this small piece of sun.

This is the State Park Pier and we walked to the end.
Here is the trail that we walked

February 24. 2013

February 24th, 2013

Today is the last Sunday before Grandpa and Grandma travel with Great Grandma and Great John to Myrtle Beach S.C. for the month of March and so it was a day to complete sewing projects and pull projects together to take along.

Emily finished her pillow today!

and Brooklynn and Isabella also help Emily in stuffing her pillow.

Emily liked the secret pocket and said that she was going to keep midnight snacks in it - oh that is a secret.

Grandma Finished Great Grandma Poncho

This is a Mary Maxium Pattern.

Grandpa Worked on Brooklynn's Canopy Bed

and Emily helped.  This will be completed in April 2013 and Emily is very clear that the bed is to be painted white and the Canopy is to be pink.
Grandpa is using this trundle bed pattern (click on link) and he has increased the corner posts to provide for the canopy.

Grandma Darned James House Socks

and yes the only colour of yarn in the same weight as the socks was blue.

Uncle Rob and Emily played Clock and Brooklynn watched

and finally Grandma when the house was quiet prepared the scrap fabric that she will need to complete the "sew-a-long" challenge at the Tuesday night sewing group that she belongs to the Common Threads.

I have prepared the fabric that I will need for March 2013 meeting as I will not be there and I have picked out my fabric scraps so sew in Myrtle Beach so I am ready for April's group.  At February's meeting we learned how to make pillow cases with just three seams.
and here are my examples and to make your own please click this link to get pattern instructions.
