Winter Evenings
Winter
evenings are a magical time to play outside in the snow.
The world
is quieter,
snow
softer and
the space intimate and safe.
As has been the winter of 2013/2014 snow has fallen all day
and Grandpa decided to clear the driveway before going to bed. This provided a great opportunity for the
girls and their cousin to play outside in the evening snow.
They pretended that the snow was water and they were on an
island. Swimming in the snow looks much like making snow angles.
The girls walked on the snow bank in front of the
bay window until Grandpa pointed out the danger should they slide into the
window glass. So the girls deliberately fell in the opposite direction. The silence of the night was broken with
laughter and sound of pure joy as children play.
So it was that the girls passed a winter evening at Grandpa
and Grandma house playing outside in the softly falling snow. Just as generations of children before them did. Children who grew up to become their parents, grandparents and great grandparents.
On a
cold winter evening old fashion fun continues to bring joy!
