Writing Letters Hope to Children

Teaching the Joy of Receiving Letters & Writing ‘Hope’

Romans 8:24-25

For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

 

This is the fifth blog post on “Teaching the Joy of Receiving Letters & Writing”:

1. October 18th, 2013 we explored guidelines in writing letters to children 
2. October 23, 2013 to write to children things that we have Notice about them 
3. November 4th, 2013 we explored letters that convey Gratitude 
4. November 13, 2013 letters that convey to our children our Faith in them and today our hope in them.

What is hope?

 

Hope is a feeling of anticipation and longing for something to happen in the future.

As parents and grandparents we start hoping for our children from the moment we know of their existence.  

We put aside money in educational saving plans in the hope that our children will go to University or College.

Provide them with lessons and take them to participate in sporting activities in hopes that they might excel and/or develop a hobby and make friends.

 We are quick to tell our children when they disappoint our hopes for them.

“You’re not applying yourself” 

These words of frustration and disappointment are about us.  Sometimes we fear that what we hope for will not come to pass.  It is our fear in these situations that is behind these cruel and hurtful words.

Our hopes for our children should never get in the way of our children having fun and holding different hopes for their own futures.
