Lazy Days Of Summer

Waking from a good night’s sleep is a joy. You know that feeling when the sheets are just the right temperature, both cool and warm at the same time.  Where you float between wakefulness and sleep free of the task of the day to come and unaware of the worries of yesterday.

This morning over a breakfast of fruit and oatmeal Paul announced how much he enjoys our morning Hot Cacao Maca drink, it just makes him feel happy and energized.  Kelsey our daughter-in-love introduced us to this drink on her visit in April and we have been making it ours ever since.

Ingredients: this makes two large mugs. 3 cups Almond Milk heated, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, 2 tablespoons dark cacao, 2 teaspoons Maca, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon Turmeric, 1/8 teaspoon black pepper, 1/8 teaspoon Nutmeg, 1/8 teaspoon ginger.

Waste not want not has taken on a whole new meaning at grandma’s house where we use the leftover coffee either made here or purchased to coffee die paper to use and junk journals.

I am preparing to go on a crafting retreat and will make a small package of happy mail for the other people there.

The craft room got out of control yesterday and I did not get it cleaned up so that was on today’s to-do list and I have only got ½ through – add it to tomorrow’s list.

While I was cleaning upstairs Paul was downstairs prepping the stabilizing struts on the Rpod for re-painting.

We are both astonished at the number of meals we have gotten out of our micro green garden and it continues to produce greens for us..

We also planted Swiss chard in our flowering pots and these plants are doing amazingly well.  They add colour and food for us.

In the late afternoon we took our granddaughter out to ride her horse.

Today is a perfect lazy summer afternoon.

As I sit here watching her groom and ride Ellie, bird song fills the air, the farm cats sit in the shade of my car and the breeze is full of the fragrance of newly cut grass.

While inside the farmhouse this beautiful Great Dane nurses her 10 newborn puppies.
