Opening up our gardens

Wild violets in our garden we treatment as flowers

The day started with beautiful sunshine and the promise of a warm weather.

We walked downtown for breakfast followed by a quick trip to the police station to pick up our vulnerable sector checks required for all volunteers and then to the grocery store for radishes, brussel sprouts and parsnips – we are having roasted vegetables with our leftovers from yesterday.

Once home we started on the garden.

Butterfly bush stalks from 2018 had to be chopped down.

And pruning our other flowers shrubs.

Our peonies are beginning to grow

After 3 hours of gardening we decided to take a break and read the mail.

Only junk mail today.

Then it was time to clean up from the morning and a quick trip to the dump to add our detritus to the community compost pile.

We eat a late lunch and early supper at around 3:00 and today this was leftovers from yesterday and roasted veg. – so good.

After cleaning from our meal we went outside to look at the garden and plant some greens.

 and completing two quilt blocks.

I did not check my camera on Tuesday and found this great image of Ellie and thought I would include it for your enjoyment.

Nothing like enjoying the warm sunny days outside and working up an appetite in the garden.
