Myrtle Beach February 15, 2019 Walking the State Park Trails

Today we walked to the State Park Pier and ventured into the
trails where we found spring showing and colour bursting forth.

We headed out on our walk this morning at low tide.

The end of the Myrtle Beach State Park Pier is
now off limits to humans having been weakened
by the last hurricane.  No matter how calm the ocean
maybe there is always surf under the pier.

All that still remains of the  Springmaid Pier destroyed
in hurricane Matthew

We love walking among the live oaks as they twist and
arch over head.

We saw our first wild flowers today as we walk the trails
Atamasco Rain-lily.

The swamp are coming alive as green vegetation begins
to cover the surface of the water.

In the spring the life cycle of the majestic trees
fallen by storm is evident as we saw at least 7
different fungi growing.

You walk the trails on a carpet of dry leaves that create a
soft rushing sound, the white sound of the bush.

We took advantage of the many benches
to sit and listen to the birds and
other sounds of nature.
