What an amazing day full of crafting new social relationships.
Today I made the 2 hour trip from my home to Brampton Ontario for a day of paper crafting.
Two years ago I joined the Facebook group Junk Journals Canada. Since then I have enjoyed participating in swaps, gathering inspiration and learning new techniques. Today I had the opportunity to meet 5 amazing women from that group.
Now this was not my first face to face introduction to members of Junk Journal Canada as I was introduced to two members when I took one of Darlene McConnachie courses - great course by the way.
I my drive down was without incident, blue skies and easy traffic. GPS sure makes travelling so easy.
Our host provided an amazing Indian meal and a relaxed comfortable atmosphere in which to get to know each other and that is what we did.
The creative process is about being vulnerable putting out into the world your internal ideas, thoughts, and feelings. Too do this, be vulnerable, trust is required and as each woman described how she came to paper crafting, opening small windows into their lives, we trust built.
Wendy gave this process a name that resonated for me ‘forming a tribe’.
In each story I found similarities to my story, we shared the same frustrations, were able to answer each other’s questions.
So rich was this process that aside from looking at journals brought for show and tell and swapping art supplies all we did was build our tribe - it was amazing.
I grudgingly pulled myself away from this experience at 4:00 pm to make the trip home in time to attend a family BBQ.
It was an amazing day.
Thank you for coming along.
