Cooler weather and a quiet afternoon

church piano

Jumped out of bed early to gaze upon the outdoor thermometer and joy of joys it registered 60 F/15 C.  Then there was the mad dash around the house to turn off AC blowers, fans (noise makers) and fling open windows inviting the cool fresh breeze inside.  Then back to bed!

The streets continue to bare witness to the severity of the storms last evening, gutters filled with leaves shredded from their perches and puddles too large to have evaporated.

The reminder of last nights rain was also apparent in grass turned green overnight and gardens drooping yesterday were bright green and strong today.

Our spiritual walk this morning started with the singing of the old Sunday School song “Deep and Wide” opening a beautiful window back into an older and less spiritually complex time.

Juanita challenged us to be mindful of our personal religious perspectives, who it empowers and who it excludes.  Is it in line with Jesus’ message of love and inclusion?

That our actions and the self we project into the world, is not the measure of our faith.  It is our motives, silent thoughts what only we and God can know about us.
The question is - Are we faithful to the outward traditions of our churches or God’s message of love for all, our inward motives.

It was a thought-provoking sermon.

Following church, we spent a quiet afternoon, making lists for our next trip, and starting to pack.

Paul worked on a shelf that we can place on the Rpod wheel when we are stopped giving us a place to set our coffee in the morning.

I worked on happy mail to be sent out on Monday.  I enjoy preparing package for my three oldest great nieces and nephew just as much as I enjoy getting happy mail from them.

Happy Mail

Electronic mail while nice does not engage the creative process in the same way, with each letter sent and received we share tangible pieces of ourselves, pieces that can be touched and called upon at anytime.

Thank you for coming along
