Celebration and clear blue skies

Somewhere in my journey over the past 60 some odd years I heard that the day before the change of season, the day of the change and the day after foretells how the season will play out.  If that is true in our small part of the world, the first 1/3 of summer will be rainy, the second and third sunny and warm.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Today we woke to clear blue skies and temperatures in the mid 70F/20C just the way we like it and as is our habit on Saturdays we had breakfast out.  I find great joy in a good cup of coffee and this morning it was amazing.

Knowing that we would spend much of our day in the car travelling we walked to the restaurant.  On our way we pasted this historical truck we know the owner and he spends a great deal of time keeping his truck looking this way – I like it.

We passed the racetrack with one horse and cart out practicing and just as I got set up to take a picture as they passed, they stopped and returned to the paddock, thus the empty racetrack.

Once home we noticed that our pick rose bush has started to bloom and the fragrance of this bush is intoxicating.

The rest of the morning was spent in ordinary household activities, sweeping, laundry, and cleaning out the car.

At 1:00 pm Paul’s sister arrived, and we travelled to the city where we celebrated the 80th birthday of our brother-in-law.  His children pulled off an amazing surprise for him, and we all spent a relaxed afternoon visiting.

I was able to put faces to Facebook friends and we had a good laugh in my inability to remember names.

Once back home we dug up perennials for Paul’s sister and we are now sitting quietly eating a bowl of strawberries and bananas.  The strawberries a gift from our guest yesterday.

Thank you for dropping by and we hope you enjoy today’s images
