Hospitality - the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors or strangers.
We arrived home tonight to learn our son and his family had invited Grandpa and
I over for supper. They wanted to extend
to us their hospitality a delicious meal and a respite from the heat in their air-conditioned
home.
The sound of the water moving in their fresh water aquarium created
a relaxing back drop to our after-dinner conversation.
When was the last time you either received or extended
hospitality outside of the traditional holiday seasons?
Our path is clean with sweeping, the gate is opened wide,
Who knows who may be passing, this way at eventide.
We lit our heart’s bright candle; its beams shine far and
clear,
To tell one who may need it that rest and love are here.
We baked the bread of friendship for one may dine thereof;
And poured in crystal goblets the rare sweet wine of love.
And though we may not know it – we heard it from the wise –
That often, very often, come stars in strangers’ guise
