What are we looking for?

Life with purpose.

This was the question that we were presented with in our spiritual reflection this morning and the answer we came to understand is as unique as the human that attempts to answer it.

The answer becomes even more elusive when it becomes clear that the answer while unique to an individual changes within any given moment for each person.

Today we look for meaning in life, a sense of belonging to other and God, for purpose to life as we age, and the knowledge that our lives have value to ourselves and others.

Eleanor Roosevelt said the purpose of life was to “live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience”

Her definition goes a long way to answering this question in in the abstract, we would build on Eleanor Roosevelt’s definition,

… to live [within God’s purpose], to taste experiences [God has placed before us], to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences [in the service of others and God…]

Today as we drove home we drove under cloudy skies and through white out conditions to almost instantly drive out into clear skies and a beautiful sunset.  We believe that lives lived without purpose is like driving under cloud and snow, it can be beautiful.

While a life lived with purpose is stunning and vibrant just as the sunset tonight.

Life with purpose
