Windows
of Expectation
Using a window to focus our attention Pastor Juanita Laverty
ask a very simple and yet profound question.
Are we
looking for the presents of God in
our lives now!
All around us people are looking for the perfect Christmas present, driving around the community looking at decorated houses, and preparing to attend the local Santa Claus Parade: expectantly looking for signs of Christmas Day.
Juanita correctly reminded us that windows do not show the
past nor do they show us the future.
Through our windows we see the present/the now.
If we stay behind our comfortable safe windows we will never
be in the position to participate in the presents of God all around us.
Isaiah participated he had a vision in which the
light of God brought peace to the world.
Isaiah 2: 5 Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord
Mary the mother of Jesus participated and
accepted the mystery of God: the Creators willingness to use any of us in the
salvation of all.
Luke 1:38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”
Paul participated and announced that the presents
of God has come for everyone and he directs us to walk in the light.
Romans 13:11-14 Besides this you know that the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. 12 The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.
Are you
looking for God’s presents/presence now?
Are you
mindful of the mystery of God’s presents/presence right now?
How
will you move beyond your window of expectation and move into God's light?
