Rightline Gear SUV Tents
This morning while we had breakfast four couples came up and
asked us about our van tent set up. They
were traveling in large trailers and wondered if this would be a more
economical way to travel. Paul and I
believe that it is and so we have decided that today’s blog will highlight our
Rightline SUV Tent.
Here is what we look like set up with the van.
From my chair at the table here is the depth of the tent. As you can see it is in two sections the one that attaches to the Van has a tub floor that water cannot penetrate. The furthest section has no floor. The two section can be closed off from each other with a zippered room divider.
So here we go. We have placed the lawn chairs in the van as we are going on a picnic to the Table Rock Dam. Paul is unhooking the straps that connect the Van to the inside of the tent.
The Van door is closed and the final straps unhooked.
The Van is now free of the inside of the tent and still connected outside skirt.
The Van is now connected by four straps two on the side and two on the roof.
Free of the tent Paul pulls the Van away. Less than 10 minutes start to finish.
Now we zipper the wall of the tent where the Van was creating a fully self contained tent.
And we are ready for a day of driving.
We are enjoying our Rightline SUV tent every much. If you can remember back to an earlier blog we tested the tent and van on our Granddaughters Emily and Ruth. We look forward to many camping trips with them.

Happy to see a review on this fairly rare (and I believe discontinued) tent. REI currently sells a smaller model of the Rightline, which does not have the screen room, and it is currently on clearance. I got one like you have on FB marketplace and was happy to find it. We will like having the extra space of the screen room. Our goal is to go camping in our Tesla with it. Teslas have the unique feature of allowing you to leave the climate system running overnight, so we’ll sleep in the car if it’s too warm or cold.
